Does AI Guidance Help Businesses Make Better Decisions?
The debate about AI regulation raises a practical question for business.
Does the guidance help people make better decisions?
That is the question I am working through. Rules and guidance matter, but they should help people use AI well in real work. They should not make people afraid of AI.
Embrace AI, but secure it
The goal is not to stand back while the market changes. The bigger risk for a business may be being locked out while other organisations learn how to use AI well.
Businesses should embrace useful AI. They should also secure it. That means knowing which tools people use, protecting business information and giving people clear rules.
Start with your own questions
For your business, ask:
- What tools are people using?
- What security controls apply?
- Does your AI policy explain what is appropriate?
These questions turn a broad debate into work your team can do now. They also give you a clearer starting point for using AI safely and deciding where AI agents may fit.
